All you need to know about the playoffs

For over three years DreamLeague has brought you some of the best tournaments in western Dota and is now one of the longest running tournaments around. Now the playoffs of DreamLeague season 5 draws near and it’s time to find out who will take the title and the $156,000 prize pool.

For the fifth season of DreamLeague we invited the defending champions OG to the playoffs. Furthermore we invited eight teams to participate in the league portion where they fought for the three remaining spots in the playoffs.

The playoffs will take place over the 21st and 22nd of May in the Monster Energy DreamHack Studios in Stockholm Sweden. The four remaining teams will play in a Bo3 double elimination bracket with a Bo5 finals. With no advantage to the team coming from the upper bracket

In short
Dates: May 21-22
Location: Monster Energy DreamHack Studios, Stockholm Sweden
Teams: 4
Format: Bo3 Double elimination bracket
Finals: Bo5
Playoffs prize money: $100,000
1st – $50,000
2nd – $25,000
3rd – $15,000
4th – $10,000

This season we invited a lot of new or unproven teams to the league and we received some criticism for this. But during DreamLeague and other recent tournaments we have now seen what teams are strong and which teams that might need more time to find their top form. With the $1,000 award to the winner of each game of league play we have already given away $56,000 in prize money alocated as you can see below. The playoffs also comes with another $100,000 in prizes!
